Playing in the Snow

We haven't had too much snow this winter, but have had a few decent storms in the last few weeks. A few nights ago after several fresh inches, the boys and I went out to play. You take about 15 minutes to get them all bundled up, then you're lucky if they last that long outside. The boys made snow angels. Well, Carson did. Elijah's snow gear is bulky enough that once he's in it he's pretty much immobile, so he wasn't really able to make a snow angel, but left a fine imprint all the same. It was too cold to make a snowman or throw snowballs. That night was probably about 20 degrees, and it's only gotten colder. The outdoor reading on our weather station was 6 degrees at 7:30 this morning. Tonight it's supposed to be -1. Nothing is melting anytime soon.

But one minute later all was well again...

Oregon Christmas Visit

After an enjoyable Christmas, we spent some time with Christina's parents in Oregon. Carson was excited to go and a couple of days beforehand was walking around with his little suitcase and a couple of stuffed animals telling us he was ready. Christina and I were able to go skiing with her dad on Mt. Bachelor. Though it was a little chilly, the sun was shining and we had a nice time. The boys had fun spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Candland and as usual, Carson did not want to return home.

Christmas 2006

We had a great Christmas. As the boys get bigger, they understand a little more about what's going on and were pretty excited about Santa Claus and getting presents. We also tried to make sure they had some idea about the real meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate. We enjoyed spending time as a family and also seeing extended family at various times during the holidays.

Carson wanted a green dinosaur for Christmas, and spent plenty of time telling us about it. When he would pick up his toys or fulfill any other kind of responsibility, he would often follow up by saying "I want a green dinosaur." He knew he had to be on the "good list."

Finally, his chance to tell Santa what he wanted...


And that's what Santa delivered on
Christmas morning...


Elijah got a little four wheeler from Santa.
Hopefully it will last until summer so
he can actually use it outside...
